Shall We Dance?

"If I could tell you what it meant, there would be no point in dancing it".
--Isadora Duncan

"It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It is the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. It is the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give. And the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live.”Bette Midler

I don't think there is a better quote to express what dancing can make you feel.. I started late and I don't have a lifetime doing it, but I can say it is one of the things I enjoy the most doing it.
When I started at Jazz Ballet I was "the worst one". My friends who were dancing with me had at least 15 years experience and could dance like angels, so quite challenging !
After a while, lots of practicing and lots of " again and again " I began to walk...
It's very demanding , but such a good thing couln't come that easy .
I practice dancing at Jazz Ballet del Zulia founded by Gonzalo Romero in 1.985. In 2.000 he left to Paris to be a teacher and a coreographer at Conservatori de Vincennes and his pupil and leading dancer Iris Fuentes takes the leading as a coreographer. Its style , neo clasical, it is recognized for fusioning the clasical technique with jazz, resulting in a vigourus and defined dance.
What I feel ? Surreal, everytime I dance I feel peace and connection to a higher thing, there is such a sensation of being alive and free , that it is hard to expplain. Is it about feelings? of course it is. Is it a language ? No doubt....
The rest history.... so I am just going to make fun of myself telling you some silly facts.
* I am soooo clumsy that my friends could'nt believe I could do it.... as they say " it is a mystery!
* First month could'nt stand with enough balance: straigth, shoulders dowm , back in ( really hard for me!), pelvis down and toes stuck to the floor ....
* I love dancing but everytime Iam about to perform I asked myself Adriana what the h... are you doing here????????
* We have a dance to follow ;Yosmar as she forgets it just make her own!
* The worst : dancing with sunglasses and ligths rigth in front of you . At that moment just pray...
* Palacio de Eventos and a little change of the music: from Vangelis to I feeellllll Gooood.
But at the end... unless you fall and break your leg there will be a smile on your face!

My Scuba Divers!!!

"When I approach a child he inspires in me two sentiments: tenderness for what he is and respect for what he may become" Louis Pasteur.

Well, how to start? My degree is in business and even though I loved it, and numbers are always around me ; I've found myself working for the past seven years as a teacher in an American school. The whys??? Easy :children. I've fallen in love with children .I love teaching them and I love to be Miss Adriana- a special part of their lives. This year I teach with another teacher (Alexis ) first grade. Our class name is The Scuba Divers, name that I like a lot considering that I dive and my friends sometimes call me Dory ( Finding Nemo). We just started classes and I 'm having a blast already. They have such defined personalities, and they are so unique and funny....Examples I have a child who only eats yellow or white food and is always measuring and calculating everything and another that has already traveled almost around all the world and can recall all the places where he has been!!!They amuse my day so I always try to make myself better just for them. Yesterday I have my diving teacher come to my class to show them what a scuba diver looks like. They just loved it and they got to breath air from the tank with their mask and equipment on. They had such a great time and I know they won't forget it because they made a lot of questions and the first thing they did once they were picked up was to tell their parents their amazing experience. So like master card........ it is priceless!!
Teaching is a big big responsability but it is also one of the most rewarding things ... I feel graceful to be able to show them what the world looks like, and the different ways they can look at it , but it's up to them at the end because we are just guidance in their unwritten lives.
